Ferrosilizium ist eine wichtige Legierung, die bei der Eisen- und Stahlherstellung dem Stahl Sauerstoff entziehen kann. und die Endqualität des Stahls erhöhen. Ferrosilizium ist auch die Basis von Vorlegierungen für die Herstellung von z. B. fesimg zur Modifizierung von erschmolzenem Temperguss.
Zur Herstellung von Spezialstahl werden spezielle Ferrosiliziumsorten wie aluminiumoxidarmes, hochreines und kohlenstoffarmes Ferrosilizium verwendet. Die spezielle Qualität von Ferrosilicium kann den Einschlussgehalt und den Kohlenstoffgehalt des Stahls auf ein niedrigeres Niveau als bei gewöhnlichem Ferrosilicium bringen.

Anwendung
1)Ferrosilizium wird häufig als Desoxidationsmittel in der Stahlherstellung verwendet.
2) In der Eisenindustrie kann es als Impfmittel und Nodulizer verwendet werden.
3) Es kann als Reduktionsmittel in der Ferrolegierungsproduktion und der chemischen Industrie verwendet werden.
4) Ferrosilizium kann auch als Fügemittel für Legierungselemente verwendet werden, das in niedriglegiertem Stahl, Nichteisenmetall, Lagerstahl, hitzebeständigen Stählen und Elektriker-Siliziumstahl weit verbreitet ist.
